Tri-County Literacy Volunteer Job Description

Title:

Scrabble Tournament Organizer

Responsibilities:

     Schedule and organize 3 Scrabble tournament fundraisers annually (Spring, Fall, Summer).

     Recruit volunteers for hosting, scorekeeping, etc.

     Promote tournaments.

     Attend and oversee tournaments to ensure successful execution.

Impact:

     Proceeds from this fundraiser are earmarked for literacy programs that support the developmentally challenged.

Long Term Outcome:

     Build a series of events that people in the community support and look forward to.

     Increase awareness of organization in the community.

     Raise money for a critical need within the literacy organization.

Training and Support:

Full training and support provided by staff and board members. Candidate will need to train the volunteers that he/she recruits.

Qualifications:

     High level organizational skills to develop tasks, delegate, and follow up.

     Ability to make decisions, manage and work with other volunteers.

     Scrabble enthusiast preferred.

Time Commitment:

Each event requires approximately 15 hours (includes scheduling, volunteer recruitment, promotion and execution).  Total 45 hours/year.
