Tri-County Literacy Volunteer Job Description

Title:

Program Evaluator

Responsibilities:

     Review and assess existing goals for Tri-County Literacy programs: Adult Literacy and Read with Me. Program review alternates each year between the two programs so that each program is evaluated biennially (every two years).

     Work with staff, board, and other organizations to assess goals based on current trends and changes in the community’s literacy needs.

     Spend time in the field with program participants to get first-hand experience.

     Evaluate efficacy of program toward goals.

     Submit written report that documents program achievements and recommends modifications for improving efficacy.

Impact:

Make literacy programs more effective.

Long Term Outcome:

     Ensure that program goals are current.

     Help Board and staff improve literacy programs.

Training and Support:

Training and orientation on each program provided by staff and board.

Qualifications:

     Good written and verbal skills; experience documenting processes or procedures.

     Willingness to travel locally to make onsite visits at program sites.

     Ability to run meetings and work with a diverse group of people.

     Previous experience in education, administration, or literacy helpful.

Time Commitment:

Estimated 40-60 hours per year (includes onsite visits, meetings, and report writing).
